Meet Tammy | Owner & Pastry Chef

 

Tammy Waxler, owner of Hill Country Cakery

I grew up in Houston baking with my Grandma Alma and Aunt Theresia. After graduating from Culinary Institute LeNotre in 2007, I worked briefly at Houston Country Club. We relocated to Lakeway in 2009, and I began focusing on celebration-style cakes rather than French pastry. In my custom cakes and sweets, I use simple, local ingredients and often incorporate my Grandma and Aunt’s recipes, with my own twist. I love the challenge of teaching myself new techniques and some would call me a workaholic. 
 
Many couples whose wedding cakes I have baked have reached out to me a year later when they are throwing a baby shower, then again for a first birthday, and so on. I really love the relationships I create with my clients. When I’m not baking, I am enjoying family time with my husband, three boys, and dogs (Maggie and Greta).
